These steps apply when the `Sign-in method` is `Username and password`. Agent Cake generates the one time code itself, so the admin account must use an authenticator app. A phone prompt or a hardware key will not work.

Keep ChatGPT and Cakewalk open side by side. You will move between them.

1. Navigate to <https://chatgpt.com> and sign in with the admin account.

The code expires after 30 seconds. If ChatGPT rejects it, generate a fresh one in Cakewalk and paste it again.

See [Multi-Factor Authentication](/docs/human-access/how-to-guides/auto-provisioning/how-it-works/multi-factor-authentication.md) for the general setup steps.

<details>

<summary><strong>How email verification works</strong></summary>

These steps apply when the `Sign-in method` is `Username and password`. ChatGPT can ask for a six digit code sent to the admin account's email address, and it can ask for that code even after the MFA step. Agent Cake reads the code from your connected inbox and enters it, so no one has to sit and watch the login.

Connect the inbox before you configure ChatGPT. Go to Settings → Account → *Auto Provisioning* and click **Connect Inbox**. Full steps are in [Email Verification](/docs/human-access/how-to-guides/auto-provisioning/how-it-works/email-verification.md).

Until an inbox is connected, `Username and password` is greyed out in the `Sign-in method` step. Admins see a link to connect one. Everyone else sees a note to ask a Cakewalk Admin.

Agent Cake only looks for the ChatGPT verification email in that inbox. If the email has not arrived by the time the login needs it, the run fails with an `EmailCodeNotFound` error and you can retry the request.

{% hint style="info" %}
The code is read from the connected inbox, so the ChatGPT admin account has to be the one that receives its verification emails there.
{% endhint %}

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Signing in with Google</strong></summary>

If the admin account signs in to ChatGPT through Google, choose `Sign in with Google` in the `Sign-in method` step and pick the connected Google account. You do not enter a ChatGPT email, password or MFA secret in that case. MFA belongs to the Google account and is set up there.

Google configurations do not use an inbox. ChatGPT does not send a verification code on this path, so no inbox has to be connected.

For background on how Agent Cake signs in through Google and what the account needs, see [Sign in with Google](/docs/human-access/how-to-guides/auto-provisioning/how-it-works/sign-in-with-google.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://www.cakewalk.security/docs/human-access/connections-and-integrations/integration-guides/chatgpt.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
