BambooHR

Connect BambooHR to Cakewalk as an identity source: the permissions you need and how to set the Access Level before you sign in.

BambooHR connects to Cakewalk with the email and password of a BambooHR account whose Access Level grants the needed permissions. The shared flow in Connecting an HRIS covers what syncs and what happens after you save; this page covers the BambooHR side.

✅ Before You Start

• You need Administrator or Manager permissions in your company's BambooHR instance, or an account someone with that access has shared with you.
• The API key's permissions come from the Access Levels of the account that connects, so configure the Access Level before you sign in. The steps below cover this.

🛠 Connect

1. In Cakewalk, go to Settings → Data Sources → Users and select BambooHR.
2. Log into BambooHR and note your subdomain: it appears in the URL bar in the form of https://yourdomain.bamboohr.com.
3. In BambooHR, click the cog button at the top right of the screen, then click Access Level in the sidebar on the left of the Settings page.
4. Find the Access Level the connecting account belongs to and click its Access Level Settings button to edit the permissions. To use a new level instead, click the plus button, select Custom Access Level and assign the account to it.
5. Set the permissions the connection flow asks for. The flow shows the exact list. BambooHR permissions are either "View only" or "Edit": if the flow asks for "at least View Only" on a field, set it to "View Only"; if it asks for both "at least View Only" and "Edit", set it to "Edit".
6. Back in the connection flow, press Sign in with BambooHR. A pop-up window appears: enter the account's email and password and press Log In.
