# Charlie HR

Charlie HR connects to Cakewalk with a Client ID and Client Secret you generate on Charlie HR's Integrations page. The shared flow in [Connecting an HRIS](/docs/platform-overview/connections-and-integrations/connecting-an-hris.md) covers what syncs and what happens after you save; this page covers the Charlie HR side.

### ✅ Before You Start

* Your account needs the "Admin" or "Super Admin" role in your company's Charlie HR instance.
* To check: log in to Charlie HR and look at the sidebar on the left side of the screen. If you cannot see the **Integrations** option, your account does not have one of these roles. Find out who has the "Admin" or "Super Admin" role and ask them to assign you the role or take over the setup.

### 🛠 Connect

1. In Cakewalk, go to **Settings → Data Sources → Users** and select Charlie HR.
2. Log in to Charlie HR and click **Integrations** in the sidebar on the left side of the screen.
3. On the **Integrations** page, click the **API Keys** tab.
4. Click **GENERATE KEY** under the **Your API Keys** section.
5. In the popup, click the copy icon to copy your newly created Client ID and Client Secret.
6. Paste the values into the connection flow, then click **Set up integration**.

The first sync starts immediately. Sync details and cadence: [Connecting an HRIS](/docs/platform-overview/connections-and-integrations/connecting-an-hris.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://www.cakewalk.security/docs/platform-overview/connections-and-integrations/identity-sources/charlie-hr.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
