# Personio

Personio connects to Cakewalk with an API credential you create in Personio's marketplace settings. The shared flow in [Connecting an HRIS](/docs/platform-overview/connections-and-integrations/connecting-an-hris.md) covers what syncs and what happens after you save; this page covers the Personio side.

### ✅ Before You Start

* You need a Personio CorePRO plan.
* Your Personio account needs two access rights: **Account configuration → API** (to create the API credential) and **Account configuration → Marketplace Integration** (to view its credentials).
* To check: open **Settings** in the Personio sidebar, then the **API credentials** tab under Integrations. If you cannot see the Settings button or the tab, ask a Personio system administrator for these access rights.

### 🛠 Connect

1. In Cakewalk, go to **Settings → Data Sources → Users** and select Personio.
2. Note your API domain: it is the same domain you use to sign in to Personio.
3. In Personio, open the marketplace page at `https://<your subdomain>.personio.de/configuration/marketplace/connected` and select **Create custom integration**.
4. Name the new connection, then enable the access rights and readable employee attributes the connection flow asks for. The exact list is shown in the flow itself.
5. Select **Generate new credential**, copy the credentials into the connection flow and finish.

The first sync starts immediately. Sync details and cadence: [Connecting an HRIS](/docs/platform-overview/connections-and-integrations/connecting-an-hris.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://www.cakewalk.security/docs/platform-overview/connections-and-integrations/identity-sources/personio.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
