# Rippling

Rippling connects to Cakewalk with an API key you create in Rippling's Company Settings. The shared flow in [Connecting an HRIS](/docs/platform-overview/connections-and-integrations/connecting-an-hris.md) covers what syncs and what happens after you save; this page covers the Rippling side.

### ✅ Before You Start

* You need to be an admin in your company's Rippling system.
* To check: follow steps 2 to 4 below and confirm you can see the **Create API Key** button. If you cannot, you are not an admin.

### 🛠 Connect

1. In Cakewalk, go to **Settings → Data Sources → Users** and select Rippling.
2. In Rippling, click the cog icon in the sidebar to open the settings, then click **Company Settings**.
3. Click the **API Access** tab.
4. Click the **Create API Key** button.
5. Select the permissions listed in the connection flow. The connection flow shows the exact list; select only those.
6. Copy the created API key by clicking the icon and paste it into the connection flow.
